Leslie Catron, DNP, RN, CHSE
Leslie’s nursing career spans 50 years, from being a NICU bedside and transport nurse to clinical nursing and medical educator. During this time, she has taught neonatal resuscitation, assisted with establishing the NICU satellite at St. Agnes Medical Center, developed a bedside preceptor program for new graduates, implemented a student nurse extern program, developed resident simulation experiences, and designed a state of the art, 20,000 sq. ft. simulation center with a new standardized patient program, augmented reality holographic anatomy, and immersive manikin simulation.
Leslie has been actively involved in simulation-based education for over 16 years. During that time, she served as faculty and simulation coordinator at West Hills College Lemoore, Clinical Education Specialist and Simulation Coordinator at Valley Children’s Hospital, Faculty and Simulation Center Director at California Health Sciences University, and Adjunct Assistant Professor-Simulation Educator at Samuel Merritt University Fresno.
Leslie graduated from Fresno City College in 1974 and completed her BSN in 2007. She received her MSN-Ed from Fresno Pacific University in 2009 and DNP from Aspen University in July 2024. In addition, she has been a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) through the Society for Simulation in Healthcare since 2013.
